Biography Nabil Mechi played music at an early age and even had a band by his early teens. He attended Cal State University in 1979, he found himself attracted to photography and studied it extensively. Nabil won a scholarship to study film making at the California Institute of the Arts in 1982. He completed his master thesis film ”The Buffer Zone” and graduated from Cal Arts in 1985. Nabil became a cinematographer and a documentary filmmaker in the early stage of his career that led to a lot of traveling in the States, Europe and the Middle East. Nabil received the "Kodak Prix De Tournage" in Avignon for his cinematography work on Maggie May. Film and Video editing was always dominant in Nabil’s carrier. Throughout the years, Nabil has edited many films, documentaries and commercials. Since 1993, with the boom of digital editing technology, Nabil has edited nearly 300 music videos, many award winning videos, from artists such as Sting, Britney Spears, Toni Braxton and Smashmouth to Kid Rock, Jewel, Roots and Babyface.
